How we actually test the 'offline' label

August 27, 2026 · Mateusz Kowalczyk

Half the games that advertise offline play fail the moment you cut the connection. So before anything gets a review here, we put the phone into airplane mode and try to break it.

We open every menu, start a match, save, close the app, and reopen it — all disconnected. If a screen hangs waiting for a server, we note exactly which one. Readers deserve to know before they board a flight.

Some games are sneaky. They work offline until you hit a specific feature, like a leaderboard or a cosmetic shop, and then quietly refuse. We flag those partial cases clearly.

It's tedious work, honestly. But it's also the reason people trust the site, so we're not cutting that corner any time soon.
